The National Institutes of Health recently awarded Stefan Sarafianos, PhD, Chancellor’s Chair of Excellence in Molecular Virology and professor in the School of Medicine’s Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, two separate grants worth nearly $4.5 million to further his research on HIV.

Sarafianos studies the most common subtypes of HIV, which have been found to grow resistant to current HIV drugs. Sarafianos plans to use the grants to help advance his research on HIV drug resistance, in addition to a Hepatitis B eradication study.
